Logan Zahn was my junior and senior high school orchestra conductor and as such ignited my life-long passion for orchestral music performance.  He was uncompromising in getting the best from his students through diligent individual practice and vigorous rehearsals.  From an isolated prairie town of 4,000 people, he produced an 80-piece orchestra that performed at the Nation’s most prestigious music conference and his groups from Missouri, Iowa, and Minnesota were frequently honored throughout his 40-year career. 

He once told me, “I don’t normally allow an extra wind player on any stand, and the trombone section is full.  But I can see you are serious about orchestra so I will make this exception for you.” 

He gave me a chance.
